C64GFX Newsletter — March 2026
It's been far too long since the last newsletter — July 2025, in fact! A lot has happened since then, so let me catch you up on all the changes.
First, a quick apology: new work commitments have meant I've been slower than usual to reply to messages and action suggested changes. I appreciate your patience and I'm doing my best to stay on top of things. The site is very much alive and kicking, though — as you'll see below!

A Fresh New Look
If you haven't visited c64gfx.com recently, you're in for a surprise. We've been redesigning major parts of the site:
| • New menu system & compact header — less clutter, more focus on the artwork itself |
| • Artists page redesigned — no longer just a wall of names; now much easier to browse and explore |
| • Compos page overhauled — cleaner layout for competitions past and present |
| • Comments page transformed — now making it really easy to quickly read what others are saying about the artwork |
| • GFX Tools & About pages — completely refreshed layouts |
| • Keywords — a brand new feature (more on this below!) |
The goal has been to make the site feel more polished and put the pixel art front and centre where it belongs.
|
Introducing: Keywords
One of the biggest new additions is our Keywords feature. We've been tagging artwork with keywords so you can explore the collection in entirely new ways — by subject, reference, artist influence, and more.
Here are the current top 10 keywords:
| 1. | Boris Vallejo (predictably!) |
| 2. | Star Wars |
| 3. | Iron Maiden |
| 4. | Eddie |
| 5. | Sylvester Stallone |
| 6. | Derek Riggs |
| 7. | Rambo |
| 8. | Rambo: First Blood Part II |
| 9. | Gary Larson |
| 10. | Clyde Caldwell |
From metal legends to action heroes to fantasy art icons — it's a fascinating snapshot of what inspired C64 pixel artists. Head over to the site and explore for yourself!

Rate, Comment & Vote!
Did you know you can rate and comment on every piece of artwork on the site? Your votes help surface the best work and give artists the recognition they deserve.
A huge shout-out to our top 10 voters who have been rating tirelessly:
|
Shine · Worrior1 · Trident · Bob · Matt · Elko · Alta · Pepto · MMSZoli · ByteSpiller
|
These legends have rated thousands of releases between them. Can you join them on the leaderboard? Every rating helps — even if you just rate your favourites as you browse.

Help Us Improve — Suggest Changes
Spotted a missing artist credit? Know the original reference artwork for a piece? Have work-in-progress stages to share?
Every image page has a "Suggest Changes" button that sends fixes straight to us. You can attach images too — perfect for sharing reference art or workstage screenshots. These suggestions are incredibly valuable and help make the archive more complete and accurate.

Support C64GFX
Running C64GFX costs real money — hosting, cloud storage, search, authentication, comments, and more. It's a labour of love, but the bills add up.
We now accept PayPal donations! If you enjoy the site and want to help keep it going, any contribution — no matter how small — makes a genuine difference and is hugely appreciated.
We've also revamped the Donations page itself — check it out to see our supporters' names immortalised in the stars! You'll also find a full breakdown of the running costs that keep the site alive.
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far — you're keeping this archive alive.

Until Next Time
I'll do my best to not leave it another 8 months before the next newsletter! As always, if you've got feedback, ideas, corrections, or pixel-art news to share — just reply to this email.
Thanks for being part of the C64 scene. Stay creative!
