Battle Chess

Battle Chess is a 1988 chess video game developed and published by Interplay Productions, originally for the Amiga. The game's gimmick was that, instead of static pieces, each chessman was animated and would mime an elaborate combat sequence whenever it captured another -- complete with sound effects and humour.
