Herb Ritts

Herb Ritts (1952--2002) was an American fashion and celebrity photographer whose sun-drenched, classically composed black-and-white portraits and nudes -- often shot in the Californian outdoors -- helped define the look of the late 1980s and 1990s. He shot many of the era's defining magazine covers and music videos (Madonna's "Cherish", Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game", Janet Jackson's "Love Will Never Do (Without You)") and his sleek, sculptural treatment of celebrity skin became a key reference for digital-portraiture in the decades that followed (Wikipedia)
