Jan Hammer

Jan Hammer (born 17 April 1948) is a Czech-American keyboard player, composer and music producer. After establishing himself as a jazz-fusion virtuoso with the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 1970s, he became one of the most-heard composers of the 1980s through his all-electronic score for the NBC series Miami Vice -- the soundtrack album spent 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and the title theme reached #1 on the Hot 100, an unprecedented feat for an instrumental TV theme (Wikipedia)
