New Nightmare

Wes Craven's New Nightmare is a 1994 American supernatural slasher film written and directed by Wes Craven, the seventh entry in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. In a metafictional twist, Heather Langenkamp plays a fictionalised version of herself as Freddy Krueger -- now an embodied, malevolent force outside the original films -- begins to torment her family in the real world. The film's self-aware approach is widely cited as a precursor to Craven's own Scream two years later (Wikipedia)
